What can I tell you? I’m a training consultant and animal lover, dividing my time between serious work stuff and catering to the whims of 3 Golden Retrievers, who have a good grasp of the English language when they want to. Those who know me, know my dogs are the inspiration behind much of my work and happiness, and I thought they could help me with writing this blog too.
I’d never thought I’d write a blog. And I never thought I’d have a dog, let alone three. But here I am learning how to write a blog surrounded by three furry creatures.
Originally I’m from a place called Walsall, in the West Midlands. Mum was a shop assistant and dad worked for the Steel industry before Mrs Thatcher closed it down. I moved to the South of England to go Portsmouth Uni (or poly as it was then), got a Social Science degree, and started a career in nursing, and then NHS Management. But I was heading for 40 and wondering if that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Then, out of the blue, whilst cooking steak and chips, I was dumped by my philandering, two-timing, boyfriend of 8 years, two weeks before our holiday to Turkey, in favour of his latest conquest.
Being a practical kind of girl, I wasn’t going to let a good holiday go to waste, so I threw caution to the wind, packed my bags, left him holding the cats, and went to Turkey. And there I stayed…for a whole two weeks! And there my new life began.
Now I’m my own boss, meet lots of inspiring people, live in a picturesque Hampshire Village, with two cats from a previous life, a new man, two great step-kids, and of course the dogs, Lucy, Harry, and puppy Jasper.
Want to know more about how I changed my life, career, and lovelife after hitting 40? Well you’ll just have to start reading the first Chapter, where my adventures began. And for those of you who haven’t yet dipped your paws into the wonderful world of dogs; you should have a go.
